My Top Ten Social Media Infographics
SocialIf there’s one thing I love receiving in Google reader it’s an infographic. There is something about them that appeals to the way my brain digests information – numbers become fun, and I can put a narrative to statistics which would otherwise bore me to tears. (Plus printing them out and sticking them up around my desk doesn’t raise my colleagues’ eyebrows like an excel spreadsheet would) So, I’ve decided to share with you my top ten infographics and why they are so achingly good for your eyeballs and your brain…
1. Get Satisfaction’s ‘Inside the mind of a community manager’
A great overview of the skills a community manager (or any social media marketer) must have under their belt. I especially agree with the ‘Pinata’ trait “After being beaten with sticks must still give out candy. Or like a unicorn has to fart glitter and rainbows”… so true. http://bit.ly/iiaZxy
2. KJB’s Levels of intimacy in conversation
For pure simplicity this one ranks high on my list, but not only that, I found I instantly related to the range of conversations displayed. http://bit.ly/fhYWQ7
3. SocialHype and OnlineSchools.org’s Are we too obsessed with Facebook? (via Mashable)
We all know we’re a little bit obsessed with Facebook or some form of social media, but this lengthy infographic shows us just how much time we waste stalking our ex on the 600 million strong social networking site. http://on.mash.to/g4Mgsf
4. Brian Solis and Jess3’s Eco Twitter system (via Mashable)
There are thousands of tools and applications available to help enhance your Twitter experience, but it can be hard to understand where they fit into your routine. Which is why this huge Twitterverse visualisation is worth a couple of print cartridges! http://on.mash.to/eLFjT5
5. Danzarella’s 5 questions and answers for Facebook marketing
Whether you’re a social media marketer or small business with a Facebook page, these 5 tips help you get the most out of your activity. Dan Zarella’s blog posts and infographics are always easy to follow and understand and this one is no different. http://bit.ly/dMtvKB
6. Bit Rebels’ 4 stages of understanding Twitter
I think everyone who has gone on the Twitter journey can identify with this one. When I started out at stage one I was still in love with Facebook and thought I’d never switch to the other side. But as I grew to understand Twitter my allegiance has shifted. Which stage are you at? http://bit.ly/f299M6
7. Pingdom’s Facebook Juggernaut
You know that Facebook is huge (if you don’t where have you been hiding?!) but can you visualise over 600 million people? I thought not, which is why this Pingdom infographic is so helpful. http://bit.ly/i4k9zz
8. A Design & Technology MFA candidate at Parsons’ Open internet
I’ve been reading a lot about censorship and privacy online, and I even wrote a blog post about the impact of net neutrality, so this quick graphic of which countries are enforcing web censorship across the world is really telling. http://on.mash.to/eXSH72
9. Brian Solis and Jess3’s Social marketing compass
This is my favourite of the top tens for visual stimulation – it combines art and functionality and helps you pinpoint where you are in the social space and the platforms, channels and sentiment you need to adopt to move around the compass. http://bit.ly/g7JdYN
10. Wired’s Media diet
Wired have a reputation for brilliant design and this Media Diet infograph is just one of many fine examples. Scarily, this media diet is incredibly accurate to my digital digestion, and I’d even go as far to say I’m in front of a screen even longer than 9 hours! http://bit.ly/hD9y7I
